The Urban Runner The New York Art Directors Society selected this as the "Best National Color Ad." I had seen this sliver of sunshine between buildings in downtown Seattle. I shot location film and sent it to the Nike AD. He said "Go." I had told the model not to waste any steps running in the shade and to be in full stride in the middle of the sunshine. He followed my instructions very well--and enraged a few motorists. I could hear the honking horns, I could see fists waving and I could see the extended middle fingers. But we couldn't be too polite, that little shaft of sunshine was to be gone in a very few minutes.
