John Terence Turner is a commercial photographer who has been based in Seattle for 28 years. John specializes in location photography with emphasis on action and dramatic locations.

A part of that specialization includes finding models who are expert in the sports involved and who are photogenic as well.

The Nike ad, “Most Heroes Are Anonymous,” is a photograph of a lone runner silhouetted in full stride by a ray of sunshine and dwarfed by towering office buildings.

The New York Art Directors Society judged it the Best National Color Ad.

John had spotted the possibilities for a striking photograph and sent location photos with the idea to the Nike art director.

His Nike poster “There Is No Finish Line,” was one of the first in Nike’s initial ad campaign. His work is noteworthy for capturing character, personality, effort and emotion. John has received numerous awards that include the Addy, New York Art Directors’ Gold and Silver Awards and Communication Arts.

John’s corporate work for Cummins Engine Company annual reports (designed by Paul Rand) won many awards.
